Change Scaring You? It’s Actually Your Best Friend.

Writer's picture: Brooke KeithBrooke Keith

Change is inevitable and the more we try to push back change, the more change comes knocking at our door. Change is scary for anyone. But when you grow up in trauma or have recently exited a bad experience, change can feel like it will kill you. After all, quiet kept you safe for a while. Hiding from the world was a sure-fire way to face no confrontation and meet no one who intended you harm.

Ask yourself this question…

Would I read the story of my life if it were made into a novel? Would I want to watch me on the big screen if I didn’t know who I was? If you said “no” to any of that…

It is time to life in the beauty of risk and reward.

Not all risk is good risk. Discernment plays a big role in doors that are for us and those that we should pass on by, however, the Bible tells us that God opens doors for us that no man can shut. And wouldn’t it be a shame if you never opened the doors that God had for you?

I have watched God take people from what they thought was “nobody” to being in demand, talked about and sought after. I’ve seen God take anxiety, repurpose it and turn it into passion for their field, their new avenue or that sudden adventure that God so suddenly calls us to sometimes.

I don’t want you to be afraid of change and God doesn’t either. When we trust God with new pathways in life, we are showing Him that even when we don’t fully understand that we trust that His plan for us is much better than the one we have for ourselves.

Change can be hard to walk into. I’ve done it. I continue to do it. But the first time I did it?

TERRIFIED.

Each change becomes less scary. Each new door becomes more of an adventure than a shiver down my spine. With each passing year, the change that we see in our world is working in our favor, for our good when we know and love the Lord.

I believe that you can conquer change and even have fun with it. If not, God would not have sent it your way in the first place.

A new avenue is waiting…

The question is are you going to be brave enough to take it?
